BL0CKCHA1N, short for the Blockchain Revolution, is an event organized by Finyear Labs, a laboratory of ideas, research, innovation and part of Finyear daily news.
This event is dedicated to the Blockchain technology and its many future applications.
Today when we look at the Blockchain, it looks exactly as the Web did back in 1994, just before it exploded. Two decades later it seems that we are at a similar moment and in this way, the Blockchain, which is the innovation behind bitcoin and other digital currencies, is the “Next Big Thing”.
In the jargon of cryptocurrencies, a “block” is a verified set of transactions which is publicly available for scrutiny to anyone in the network. These blocks are distributed across the network in the form an ordered chain and offer security and integrity to the users of the network.
In the words of Nick Szabo “The core protocol of Bitcoin is sound…and has an unprecedented reliability and security… It is more reliable and secure than any other digital technology that has ever been fielded.”
Today, the use of the Blockchain is not just restricted to monetary transactions but to almost any form of operation that can be decentralized. The Blockchain can now be used as register to store information which everyone can access free of charge and where any types of information (addresses, patents, IOUs …) can signed and stamped. As a result, the power of this technology is that it can be applied to many other services and applications apart from cryptocurrencies. In other words “Everything that can be decentralized will be decentralized.” (Johnston’s law)
